Modern Slavery Statement

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the stance of Osler Diagnostics Limited (“Osler”) on modern slavery and human trafficking.

Modern slavery is a crime and violation of fundamental human rights. It is a problem for millions worldwide. Every company is at risk of being involved in this crime and must implement measures to prevent it.

At Osler, we have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in our business, including within direct and indirect supply chains. Respect for human rights and the ethical treatment of every person is fundamental to our principles and practices.

Osler’s modern slavery statement forms part of our wider ESG strategy and commitments, in-line with the UN sustainable developments goals (“SDG’s”) and leading ethical business reporting standards.

Osler is a UK-based diagnostics company whose purpose is to enable anyone, anywhere to access, understand, and act on their health.

Osler has developed the Osler Origin – a 'portable lab' that can provide lab-quality diagnostics to anyone, anywhere, at any time. The Osler Origin will offer a wide portfolio of diagnostic tests and serve all major healthcare settings, globally.

Osler was formed out of the University of Oxford in 2017, following decades of research from the same department that invented the portable electrochemical blood glucose sensor.

Osler carries out background checks to ensure that our staff are eligible for their proposed roles and have the appropriate rights to work.

Written contracts clearly lay out the rights and responsibilities for our staff, and we take care to make sure everyone is aware of their rights and benefits.

All staff receive training on, and sign their commitment to, our code of conduct, as laid out in our employee handbook.

We work to create an environment where staff feel safe and empowered to raise concerns without any fear of reprisal. Our whistleblowing escalation procedure is clearly laid out in our employee handbook and colleagues also have the option of discussing any concerns with the independent charity, Protect.

We work to regularly review and evolve all of our people policies and procedures, in-line with our ESG commitments.

Osler seeks to operate with the highest levels of integrity in all our business relationships and treat third parties in a way which reflects our own values. Any third parties with whom we choose to work must also comply with all applicable laws, regulations and standards, as well as our own standards of doing business.

We require suppliers in our commercial supply chain to explain their workplace practices and to contractually agree to maintaining a suitable minimum standard of working conditions.

Where we identify a potential modern slavery risk, we work with the relevant supplier to remove this risk or, if it cannot be resolved, we change supplier.
